80% of the time, at night, our streets are empty and lighted, especially in cities. The KARA modules, programmed to operate the lamp which receive them at 10% of their nominal power, allow very significant energy savings (on average 65%) while significantly reducing light pollution (on average 75%) as well as actinic interactions with the different animal species present (80% of their activities take place at sunrise and sunset). As soon as a pedestrian or a moving vehicle is detected, the KARA module increases the light intensity of its lamppost for as long as it is needed.

The analysis capabilities of KARA modules, applied to intelligent lighting, also allow other services relating to the mobility of people moving in the streets. The functions of counting and objects presence/absence detection in predefined locations make it possible to offer fairly sophisticated services around the management of the flow of passers-by, cyclists and vehicles as well as parking assistance services. This effectively reduces the congestion that we encounter daily in most of our cities and optimizes the activities offered according to the actual presence of people.

Thanks to its powerful multifunction supervision tool, based on the Fiware platform (www.fiware.org), KAWANTECH allows you to retrieve, on the modules and the lamp drivers, all the useful operating and maintenance data and to remotely operate modules. High-performance telemetry functions (consumption measurements, number of detections, application data), remote diagnostics (various alarms, notifications of breakdown and / or dysfunctions, alerts) and remote management (remote setting and configuration of modules, lights and on-board applications) will thus be available.

Thanks to its “Bird’s eye view”, compared to vehicles traveling on the road, KARA modules will be able to detect events that will remain hidden until the last moment from the sophisticated detection systems in vehicles. KARA modules can warn connected vehicles, before their own detection systems can do so. The risks of accidents that could occur will be considerably reduced.
